Are your retreats suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Many of our guests come to try a new craft for the first time or return to a creative hobby after many years. Our tutors are experienced teachers who create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels encouraged and supported. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced maker, you'll enjoy learning at your own pace.

I'm travelling on my own. Will I feel comfortable?

Yes. Many of our guests come on their own, and it's one of the things we love most about our retreats. Our small groups and relaxed atmosphere make it easy to get to know people, and by the end of the week lasting friendships are often formed.

How many guests are on each retreat?

Our retreats are intentionally small, generally 8/10 participants, allowing everyone plenty of individual attention from the tutor while creating a friendly and sociable atmosphere.

What is included in the price?

Your retreat includes tuition from an expert tutor, accommodation, delicious home-cooked meals, wine with dinner, refreshments during the day and the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Les Soeurs Anglaises. Do I need to bring my own materials?

This varies depending on the workshop. Details of any materials provided and anything you may need to bring are listed on each individual retreat page. Basic materials are generally supplied but the workshop leader may suggest bringing additional items if you can.

What are the bedrooms like?

Our comfortable, stylish guest rooms are individually decorated and designed to help you relax after a day of creativity. You can see photographs and more details on our Accommodation page.

What is the food like?

Food is an important part of every Les Soeurs Anglaises retreat. We serve generous, vegetarian based home-cooked meals inspired by the seasons and the wonderful produce of south-west France. Guests often tell us that sharing good food around the table is one of the highlights of their stay.

Can you cater for special dietary requirements?

Sadly, we are not nutritionists and guests with issues should contact us know well in advance to see if we are able to accommodate the diets.

How do I get to Les Soeurs Anglaises?

We are located in the beautiful Dordogne region of south-west France. Full travel information, including the nearest airports and train stations, is provided on our Contact page, and we're always happy to advise on the best travel options.

Is airport or station transfer available?

We organise collection from Bergerac airport and Angouleme train station at pointed times for which there is a charge. A taxi can be organised outside these times at the guest’s expense.

What happens during a typical day?

Each retreat is different, but most days include inspiring workshop sessions, delicious meals, time to relax by the pool or explore the gardens, and convivial evenings sharing food, wine and conversation.

Will I have free time?

Yes. We believe creativity flourishes when there's time to pause as well as time to make. Our retreats always include opportunities to relax, read, swim, explore the local area or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

What if I don't know anyone?

You won't be the only one. Many guests arrive alone, and our warm, informal atmosphere means conversations begin naturally over coffee, in the studio or around the dining table.
