Crime Writing: Make Crime Pay
days
Workshop overview
All crime writers approach their work in different ways and Susan Moody will explore the range and potential of a crime novel.
With examples and practical exercises she will deal with such topics as character, plot and pace as they apply specifically to the crime genre, plus Scene Setting, Dialogue/Narrative, and general Obfuscations, such as clue-setting, motive, method and means, pitfalls to avoid and so on to help participants find their own creative voices.
The idea is for participants to have fun while at the same time learning about the crime genre. The mornings will start with structured sessions as well as discussions about dialogue, pace, and of course plot. Afternoons will be dedicated to individual tutorials whilst allowing participants to continue work on their projects in the comfort and relaxed ambience of Les Soeurs Anglaises. There will also be plenty of time for discussion of other crime writers and their various styles and formulae, so participants are asked to bring along an example of one of your favourites.
